Imprudent Driving Tickets in Missouri
In Missouri, a Careless and Imprudent Driving ticket, or a "C & I" as it is sometimes called, is a four (4) point violation if in violation of state law. It is a two (2) point violation if in violation of a municipal ordinance.
A "C & I" ticket is considered more serious than a speeding ticket. These tickets are often issued when a driver has an accident, is drag racing or driving at an excessive speed, squeals his tires from a stop sign, runs a red light in the presence of an officer, etc.
A "C & I ticket" can be given at the same time as, let's say, a speeding ticket. For example, if a driver is driving 25 miles over the speed limit, the officer can write one ticket for speeding and another for reckless driving at the same time. The driver, if convicted in state court, would receive 7 points. Three (3) for speeding, and four (4) for careless and imprudent driving.
